Get Involved :: LIVE! AT Culloden Battlefield

We are inviting  young, Highland-based artists to produce a piece of artwork inspired by Culloden Battlefield

Call Out: Artwork wanted

Age Range: 8 – 26

Submission Deadline: Thursday 12th July 2018

We are inviting  young, Highland-based artists to produce a piece of artwork inspired by Culloden Battlefield. The artwork can take any form; from sculpture to song, watercolour to weaving, all media types are welcome! The artwork submitted will be used by local arts organisations Plan B and Fèis Rois to inspire a new piece of contemporary dance & accompanying music. The pieces will be developed and performed by a group of young dancers and musicians as part of a week long summer school taking place in July.

To help inspire your creations, we have provided three prompts relating to Culloden;

1. The song ‘Mo Rùn Geal Òg’ – listen below and click  here to read the lyrics

2. An image of the Brodie Sword:

3. A news article about the housing development to be built at Culloden

You can see all the prompts together here: https://tinyurl.com/LIVE-BEO-CULLODEN

#HYAHLive! / Beò at Cullodem will take place on Saturday 18th August 2018 and will involve performances of the newly created dance piece across the site over the course of the day, alongside art exhibits and musical performances, culminating in a special evening showcase and ceilidh. Young artists who submit their work will have the opportunity to attend this event to watch the new pieces their artwork has inspired, as well see their creations exhibited in the award-winning Culloden Battlefield museum and information centre.

To get involved, please submit a high-quality image (or in the case of photo, film, sound recording or other digital work, a copy or link to the file) of your artistic creation. These should be submitted by the Thursday 12th July 2018. The images/files can either be uploaded to google drive via the following link https://tinyurl.com/LIVEBEOSUBMISSION or alternatively, emailed to the Event Coordinator at: josie.gaitens@highlandyouthartshub.org
